La nag Club May 8 Slane GFC will celebrate La na gClub in real style this year. La na gClub is a day set aside by the GAA to celebrate the uniqueness of its club structure – unmatched anywhere in the world – and we in Slane GFC are inviting every family in the parish to come along to our grounds at Monknewtown on May 8th from 2 to 6pm to take part in the fun. We will have a host of events taking place there, spanning our existing playing pitch and also our new field. The main field will host an under 8 football blitz involving Slane and three of our neighbouring clubs. This will run from 2 to 4. Also on our main pitch, there will be an under 10 and an under 11 challenge game against St Mary’s, from 4pm, while we will also be introducing our under 14 team to everyone (they play in the county league final on the night before La nag Club). Meanwhile, in our new field from 2 to 6pm we have organised a host of fun activities for young and old alike. All the old favourites from our annual sports day will be there with a few new ones as well. Slane Community Games are joining with us too to organise a poc fada and rounders games. Slanegfc.com will have regular updates in the days leading up to the event.What we anticipate will be a gloriously memorable family day out will finish that night in The Tourist’s Rest, from 9pm, with a night of traditional Irish music.
